A Word from Our Superintendent
From the Superintendent:
Albert Einstein once said “that you can’t resolve problems by using the same thinking that created those problems.” Over the years, the church has lost some of its power and influence in the world. So, the question becomes how do we deal with the challenges facing the church today? What is required?
I believe that we must imagine new ways of doing church. The church strategist Alan Hirsch also believes that imagination is required. He writes, “Thinking about the church requires keen spiritual insight, born of prayer, to develop the theological imagination (and courage) to be able to see things beyond the status quo of the predominant paradigm.” It requires the acts of the imagination, intuitive leaps into framing other possibilities that lead us back to the most primal expression of the church-the apostolic genius of Jesus. It is very possible that the best and most effective solutions may not be found in familiar problem-solving territory; they may, in fact, be counterintuitive. COME AND IMAGINE WITH US!
