A spiritual storytelling group for those over 50. New members are welcome! Our next meeting will be Thursday, October 15, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Covenant Home (2720 W Foster Ave). The small group which met last spring at the Reed’s continues this fall on Wednesday, October 14th from 7-9pm in the Nina Larson Ministry House.

Join local Covenant churches for a time of inspirational congregational singing of beloved hymns, anthems by the combined choirs, children’s choir, and brass ensemble. Sunday, November 1 at 4:00pm at Winnetka Covenant Church, Hibbard and Illinois Rds. For more information call the church office.

The Senior Share group and the Youth group will be sharing in an annual time of intergenerational activities and conversations on Thursday, August 20 from 10:00 to 12 noon. Join us on Sunday, August 16th at 6pm in the sanctuary for a unique opportunity to learn about the Christian community in Burma (the home country of our Karen brothers and sisters). Kap Cin Thang, president of the South East Asia Bible College and an elder at Canaan Gospel Chapel in Rangoon, Burma (aka Yangon, Myanmar) will be our guest. Kap is also connected to this community as a former student and friend of Paul Bramer. The event will be translated into both Karen and English. Contact the church office with any questions.

On Sunday, August 23 we will be baptizing several members of our community during the worship service in the sanctuary. Be sure to join us as we rejoice together in God’s work in the lives of those around us. Parents, there will be no Sunday school during the baptism service, but other activities will be offered for children.

The youth group was thinking of having a beach day at Loyola beach (N Sheridan road and W Greenleaf Ave) from 2 until 8 this Sunday, August 16, 2009. There would be games, food, and of course swimming. We would love to see all of you there, even if you are not a youth. Please if you are going, bring food and some beach balls. The Women’s Fall Fellowship retreat happens yearly and is a time of spiritual renewal, joyful worship, enriching seminary and fulfilling friendships. This fall the Covenant Harbor Bible Camp is challenging us to fill all 460 beds for our Fall Retreats, Sept. 18-20 and 25-27. WOW! We have an excellent number of women registered already … 278 for the first week and over 200 for the 2nd week! We are joyful at the prospect of connecting that many women together in Central Conference. However, we still have rooms ~ especially for the 2nd week!!

50% Scholarships are available. The deadline for payment and registration has been extended until late August, but rooms are filling up quickly. The 2nd week has the most available beds … only 2 rooms in Geneva Bay Centre, but the lodge, Englebretson, Triplets, Hilltop, etc … lots! The 1st week still is possible, so grab your sleeping bag & your girlfriends and let’s fill up Kishwaketoe! It would be such fun!
