Congregational Business Meeting

June 20, 2008

To the Grace Family:

It has been our privilege to have Alisa Bredensteiner serve as Church Secretary since her election to that office at the Annual Business Meeting in January. However, Alisa is moving on to exciting opportunities in California and as a result has tendered her resignation, effective July 1, 2008. We all wish Alisa God’s very best and pray that she will have a smooth transition to her new home. And we will miss her.

Alisa’s departure creates the need for a prompt replacement in this vital church office, which includes membership on the Church Council and the Executive Committee. Following our Constitution and Bylaws, it is the duty of the Nominating Committee (chaired this year by Mark Washington and including the two pastors, Mary Jane Dawson and myself) to present a nominee to a church business meeting. At that meeting, the floor will be open for other nominations, and election will be by paper ballot unless the meeting decides on a voice vote. The election will fill out the balance of Alisa’s one-year term. (All church office terms expire at the Annual Business Meeting.)

There will be a special business meeting of the church on Sunday, July 6, 2008, in the sanctuary, beginning a few minutes after the conclusion of the morning worship service. While other business may be discussed, the main item on the agenda will be the election of a new Church Secretary to serve
out the balance of Alisa’s term.

The Nominating Committee, after some meetings and consultations, is pleased to nominate Steve Dawson to fill out the remainder of Alisa’s one-year term. Please be in prayer about this matter. At the meeting, all will be welcome, and voting will be for church members.
