Last Chance to Help

August 21, 2007

Grace has supported the local Irving Park Community Food Pantry for many years. The food pantry has started a school-supplies drive to help their clients’ children. There will be a box available just inside the front doors of the church for your donations. This is the last Sunday, Sept. 26, to bring your donations to the church. After that you’ll need to take them directly to the food pantry.

Here’s complete information, from the Pantry’s informational flyer about this drive:

Every year the Pantry provides basic school supplies to help our clients’ children get a good start as they begin a new school year. Pantry staff and volunteers make up packs for each child. We count on your continued generosity to make sure all our children from kindergarten through high-school can participate. Take advantage of back-to-school sales and deliver the supplies to the pantry in time so we can make up the packs well before school begins. All cash donations will be used to purchase additional school supplies. Please call or email the Pantry with any questions.

Needed supplies include:

* Backpacks in all sizes * Loose-leaf notebook paper * Spiral notebooks * Two-pocket folders * Blue or black pens, regular ballpoint or erasable * Eight-count washable colored markers * Twenty-four-count crayons * Number 2 pencils * Twelve-count colored pencils * Zippered pencil cases * Glue and glue sticks * Rulers, marked in both inches and centimeters

If you prefer to drop supplies off directly at the Pantry (instead of in the collection box at Grace, as noted above), you can do that any Wednesday between 8:AM and 12:30 PM at 3801 N Keeler Ave.

To contact the Pantry directly, call 773-283-6296 or email IrvPkFoodPantry[at]aol[dot]com.
