Change in Giving to African Children Fund
October 5, 2007The children will no longer take an offering in Sunday School. They will put their offering in the regular offering before they go to their Sunday School classes. All coins in the regular offering will go to this fund. Any larger gifts should be designated on the check or envelope.
AFRICAN CHILDREN FUNDWHO is the fund for? The money from the fund goes to two sisters, Fungaro and Mungudia and their cousin, Stella. They are orphans, who are cousins of Idea Mombe, who is in our church.
WHO takes care of them? Kakayo Mary Grace is the girls’ aunt. She cares for them and her own son.
They live in Uganda, but they are from Sudan. They had to leave Sudan because of war to find safety in Uganda. Kakayo Mary Grace buys and sells grain. It is hard work and many times she just makes enough for food.
WHAT about school? Fungaro is in second grade, Mungudia is in fourth grade, and Stella is in fifth grade. In Uganda parents have to pay for school. Maybe Kakayo will use our money to help pay for school. “Those who are kind to the poor lend to the Lord…” Ps. 19:17
